I think the idea of a blog is that you write frequently and you mean what you say. Unhappily this hasn’t happened on my blog to date. It’s ages since I wrote – no excuse- it just hasn’t happened and I intended to do a bike ride to commemorate my Mam on the 25th of April but one of my fellow cyclists was ill and the weather was appalling, so that didn’t happen either!
However things are going to change from now on. In fact they’ve started to change already because last week I went on an urban cycling break in Manchester. It was great. Check out Manchester – art galleries, the cathedral, the Cornerhouse independent cinema (the film, The Angels Share was magnificent), the Royal College of Music where we saw accordion wrestling – don’t ask, Salford Quays, the Lowry and the Imperial War Museum. A fantastic, modern building with exhibits that demonstrated the horror of war without being horrific.
The cycling was good too. We stayed at the Campanile, approx 1.5 miles from Manchester centre and 1.5 miles from Salford Quay. It was easy to get around, lots of traffic to speed past, plenty of cycle lanes and no parking problems. What could be better?
